Attention all 4WD Owners
Are you afraid to take your 4WD off the beaten track for fear of damaging your vehicle or getting lost? Do you have a good idea of what your vehicle can do safely and without damage? Maybe you need to talk to the members of the Upper Hunter Recreational 4WD Club Inc.
The Upper Hunter Recreational 4WD Club was formed in 1993 by a group of like minded 4WD owners interested in exploring the great outdoors in company and with safety. The club currently has about 30 vehicle families of varying ages including some second generation members. We are affilliated with 4WD NSW & ACT, the peak body of 4WD Clubs in NSW.
Members are encouraged to adhere to the 4WD Code of Ethics and the principles of Tread Lightly. A responsible attitude towards the environment is a key factor in all our activities.
We organise regular one day and weekend camping trips each month to places of interest and each year the club hosts a major trip for members. We have toured and explored such great places as Central Australia, Flinders Ranges, Oodnadatta Track, Carnarvon Gorge, The Daintree, Gulf Country, Corner Country, Simpson Desert, Canning Stockroute, Victorian High Country and Alpine Regions, Tasmania, Fraser Island, Morteon Island and many more.
The great thing about our club is the friendship and commerarderie, sharing of knowledge and resources and the comfort of knowing you are travelling with friends who can assist should things go wrong or you get into trouble. The club also has access to discounts on accessories and camping gear.
Members are encouraged to undertake 4WD training and about 80 percent of members, both male and female, have trained to the national competency SRO DRV 001B – Drive and Recover a 4WD Vehicle. By being a member and undertaking some basic training you will get the maximum benefit from your vehicle without the risk of damage.
Our club has a positive attitude towards community involvement. We participate in the annual Clean up Australia Campaign by removing car bodies and discarded rubbish from areas of the bush, assist in Stockton Beach cleanup and participate in Camp Quality.
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday evening of each month at Liddell Power Station Social Club Hall commencing at 7.30pm and new members and visitors are most welcome. Please call our president, John Folpp (6541 3111), if you have any questions or would like to join us.
See you in the Bush !!!!
